Just when I think I’ve heard all the nonsense the far Left can come up with, they dig deep and come up with more ridiculousness. More Gun Control will prevent or reduce terrorism. Does anyone really believe this? That terrorists who are convinced they are doing God’s work will give up because they can’t obtain a firearm legally?
What gun law will prevent any American citizen who has never committed a crime in his life and can pass a background check from legally obtaining a firearm? This describes the “alleged” San Bernardino shooter. He was an American-born citizen who never ran afoul of the law.
So what do we do? Do we add a block on the ATF Form 4473 for religion? If they check Islam they can’t buy a gun or incur a more in depth background check?
Do we add a block for political beliefs? And if they check White Supremacy, Black Supremacy (yes, there is such a thing), Right to Life, Anti-Gay or Self-radicalized ISIS supporter, then purchase is denied?
How about a block for Ethnicity? The ATF Form already has blocks for
- Hispanic or Latino
- American Indian
- Asian
- Black or African American
- Native Hawaiian or Pacific Islander
- White
Do we need to add a block for Mid-Eastern descent and if checked that requires further scrutiny?
Of course people can lie on this form and it may not be caught in the background check. So maybe we need to add a lie detector test? I bet that would scare a lot of people away. Everyone has questions that they would not like to be asked when hooked up to a lie detector.
So explain to me how any new gun control law could prevent (some) terrorists from obtaining guns legally in the US? And if such a magical law did exist, I’m pretty sure terrorists wouldn’t have a problem with obtaining guns illegally.
