I’ve changed my mind about the Second Amendment. I no longer believe the Second Amendment gives us the right to be armed. I just read Gary Evens article: The Second Amendment Doesn’t Grant Americans Anything .
Mr. Evens explains the Founding Fathers believed that freedom of speech, religion, self-protection and others were “God-given, inalienable rights”. That the Second Amendment and other Amendments in the Bill of Rights doesn’t give us those rights, we already have them. What they do is prevents the government from infringing on those rights.
The U.S. Constitution and Bill of Rights does not say what citizens can do. Instead it places restrictions on what our government can do.
I can agree with that.
