Foreign Aid

I was researching information on how much foreign aid we send Russia and found this interactive map:  Link to Map

Map - 1

You put the cursor on the country and it tells you how much foreign aid the US sends to that country.  If you can’t find the country on the map, use the drop down box at the top.  Information is for 2012.  It’s startling how much money we give to other countries, a total of $48.4 billion in 2012.   Some are our enemies. Others are not our enemies, but are definitely not our friends.  But what is more startling is that, according to this map, every country on earth receives some foreign aid from the US except Greenland, Iceland, Finland, Belgium, Switzerland and Vietnam.   Again, this is 2012 info.

Other sources show that Finland and Vietnam did receive aid in 2012.

In 2012, we send aid to Russia, China, North Korea, Iran, Venezuela and all of the Mid-eastern countries that support terrorism against the United States.  We have a trade embargo against Cuba, but sent them $11.4 million in foreign aid in 2012.  Make sense?

What are we getting in return?  Could this money be better spent at home?  Remember, every dollar spent on foreign aid was taken out of an american wallet.

Incidentally, we sent $440.9 million to Russia in 2012.  Money well spent, right?
